But looks like the enterprise sales team didn’t hit the quarterly goals, and they decided it’s perfectly reasonable to always ask for a Google account. Even if you are trying to join an ongoing meeting from a public or a shared computer:

Okay, it’s not really 100% hidden, you can still make the old input show, if you click enough. And you can type the code directly in the browser address bar. Or maybe this is a temporary hiccup and it will go back to how it was.

In the meantime, in all our meeting rooms we’ve unbookmarked the Google’s landing page for Meet, and bookmarked fullskr.in/meet instead. It works.
